McCarthy thanks supporters after brother's death

Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy issued a statement today thanking supporters after the death of his younger brother Joe last week.

Joe McCarthy, 47, of Pine Township, Pa., died last Wednesday. He was an attorney in private practice and a former state deputy attorney general. He also was an adjunct professor at the Community College of Allegheny County's Allegheny Campus in Monroeville, Pa., and was a longtime youth sports coach.

Services were Monday near Pittsburgh, the family's hometown.

"On behalf of the entire McCarthy and Grumbine families, I would like to thank all those who have offered their condolences and support since my brother Joseph passed last week. The outpouring of support we have received from the Pittsburgh and Green Bay communities, the Packers family and fans, as well as the NFL community, has been overwhelming and greatly appreciated. Thank you for the love and respect that you have shown our families, and may God bless you all."
