Guion hopes to keep cash seized by police

By week's end, a judge is expected to decide whether Green Bay Packers defensive tackle Letroy Guion will regain property seized by Starke, Fla. police during his drug arrest earlier this month.

Guion appeared at Bradford County Court for a probable cause hearing in Starke on Monday morning following his arrest Feb. 3 in his hometown. After police pulled him over for failure to maintain a single lane, Guion was found with 357 grams of marijuana, a 9mm semi-automatic handgun and more than $190,000 in cash.

Police seized his cash, vehicle and gun, which was unloaded and registered in the state of Minnesota. Guion said Monday the money came from his paycheck with the Packers and wasn't drug money, according to First Coast News.

No decision was made Monday on whether Guion will get his property back.

Guion faces two felony charges for possessing more than 20 grams of marijuana, as well as possessing a firearm in commission of a felony. He was released Feb. 4 on $100,000 bond.

After one season with the Packers, Guion becomes a free agent next month. Green Bay was reportedly interested in re-signing Guion, who had a career-high 3.5 sacks while anchoring the interior defensive line in 2014. It's unknown how – or if – the case affects Green Bay's interest in the free agent.
