Packers $33M under 2015 salary cap

The Green Bay Packers will have a little more than $33 million to work with in free agency after the NFL Players Association announced Monday that the 2015 salary cap will be set at $143.28 million.

The Packers' adjusted cap figure for next season is slightly higher because they were able to carry over $7,791,106 million in unused cap space from 2014 and also received an additional $400,000 adjustment that raised the figure to $151,471,106.

The Packers released inside linebackers Brad Jones and A.J. Hawk over the last two weeks to clear $7.25 million from next year's cap. They have $115.26 million allocated toward next year's roster and take on an additional $3.18 million in dead-money charges, according to data obtained from sources with access to NFL salary information.

The league-wide cap is close to the $143 million projection the NFLPA gave at the NFL scouting combine two weeks ago and should give the Packers plenty of room in negotiating with their free agents.

According to Spotrac, the Packers have the eighth-most cap room in the league despite handing out hefty contracts to quarterback Aaron Rodgers and linebacker Clay Matthews two years ago.

Among their 16 expired contracts, the Packers have 11 unrestricted free agents to address, including receiver Randall Cobb and right tackle Bryan Bulaga.
