Report: Tramon Williams visiting Browns

Tramon Williams' free-agency tour continued Sunday with the Green Bay Packers cornerback visiting the Cleveland Browns, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Williams, who turns 32 Monday, made a stop in New Orleans last week before the Saints signed former New England and Seattle cornerback Brandon Browner to a three-year deal. The Packers are interested in retaining the nine-year veteran, but general manager Ted Thompson appears willing to wait to get him at a more palatable price.

Nearly a week into free agency, Williams is one of the few proven starting cornerbacks left on the market. Former San Francisco cornerbacks, Chris Culliver (Washington) and Perrish Cox (Tennessee), reached agreements over the weekend.

The Browns are looking to replace Buster Skrine, who accepted a four-year deal with the New York Jets during the opening week of free agency. They reportedly were interested in Browner and Cox before the two veteran cornerbacks came off the market.

Cleveland features an all-pro cornerback in Joe Haden and invested a first-round pick into drafting Oklahoma State's Justin Gilbert last season, but the Browns' interest in Williams seems to indicate reservations about tossing Gilbert into a starting role after an up-and-down rookie campaign.

The Packers lost fourth-year cornerback Davon House to Jacksonville last week on a four-year, $25 million deal. If Williams isn't re-signed, one of the team's deepest positional groups would instantly become a need entering next month's NFL draft.

Sam Shields, who signed a four-year extension last offseason, is the only proven perimeter option, though fourth-year cornerback Casey Hayward could be an option if Williams departs.

Williams has played in 140 of a possible 141 games (including playoffs) since making the Packers' initial 53-man roster in 2007. He had 70 tackles with 13 deflections and three interceptions last season.
