Quinten Rollins At A Glance
Position: Cornerback.
School: Miami (Ohio).
Height, weight: 5-11, 195.
Overview: Rollins, 22, played four seasons of basketball at Miami (Ohio) before using his final year of NCAA eligibility on the football field. He was a two-time captain on the basketball team. In his only season of football, he was named Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Year after starting all 12 games. He had 72 tackles, nine pass breakups and seven interceptions. He's seen as a big, athletic, ball-hawking cornerback who transferred seamlessly to the football field. Has the ability to play cornerback or safety. He's from Wilmington, Ohio.
Strengths: Outstanding ball skills and hands. Strong, physical tackler. Very efficient with his movement and does not waste steps in transition. Does not gather himself to cut or jump and can sky for the ball. Plays the ball very well in front of him. Plays very well balanced, stays in phase and is always in position to recover. Can come downhill in the open field and make secure tackles. Plays with enough physicality and climbs the ladder well enough to match up with flexed tight ends. Offers position versatility, with traits that apply well to the safety position.
Weaknesses: Only played one year of college football and is still honing his eyes and technique. Did not match up against top competition in the Mid-American Conference. Lacks elite top-end speed and acceleration and struggled some matching up with quicker, sudden slot receivers at the Senior Bowl.
Quote: "Great looking kid, great body, great length, great ball skills."-- Brian Gutekunst, Packers director of college scouting.
