Green Bay Packers cornerback Ryan White catches a ball during a drill on the second day of training camp at Ray Nitschke Field on Sunday, July 27, 2014.

In need of an extra defensive back, the Green Bay Packers have re-signed Ryan White, according to his agent Paul Sheehy.

White, 23, signed last year with the Packers for a $2,000 bonus as an undrafted free agent out of Auburn. Although he never started consistently for the Tigers, White impressed the Packers' coaching staff throughout training camp.

Despite his six tackles and two pass deflections in the preseason, it wasn't enough to earn the 5-foot-10, 196-pound defensive back a spot on the Packers' active roster or practice squad. Now, he'll get a second chance at things.

The Packers could be down four defensive backs in Thursday night's preseason opener against New England with safety Sean Richardson (pectoral), and cornerbacks Damarious Randall (groin), Tay Glover-Wright (hamstring) and Demetri Goodson (calf) all dealing with injuries.

The Packers still have two openings on their 90-man camp roster.
