Packers cut 5 players, roster at 83

The Green Bay Packers cut five players Monday, trimming their roster to 83 one day before NFL maximums drop to 75.

The Packers cut defensive lineman Lavon Hooks, offensive tackles Vince Kowalski and Fabbians Ebbele, and linebackers Josh Francis and Tavarus Dantzler. They must cut eight more players before the 3 p.m. deadline Tuesday.

Dantzler received a $5,000 signing bonus, while Ebbele got a $2,000 signing bonus. Hooks, Kowalski and Dantzler did not receive signing bonuses.
