Green Bay Packers defensive tackle Khyri Thornton runs drills during training camp practice at Ray Nitschke Field on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2015.

The Green Bay Packers have released a 2014 mid-round picks Khryi Thornton and Carl Bradford, according to an NFL source.

Neither player saw action as rookies. Thornton, a former third-round pick, got off to a slow start to camp before tearing his hamstring in last year’s preseason finale. He rededicated himself this offseason, but failed to make an impact in four exhibition games.

Thornton’s four-year, $2,854,252 contract included a $563,252 signing bonus. He could return on the practice squad, but the Packers still will absorb a $422,439 cap hit.

A fourth-round pick a year ago, Bradford was a clean scratch during his entire rookie season. He completed a switch from outside to inside linebacker this summer in hopes of making a bigger impact. Bradford had 11 tackles and one pass deflection this preseason.

The Packers signed Bradford to a four-year, $2,649,300 contract after taking Bradford with the 121st pick. He was given a $429,300 signing bonus despite not seeing a single snap in a regular-season contest. He’ll count $321,975 against next year’s cap.

Thornton and Bradford were a pair of mid-round misses during what was otherwise a productive draft for the Packers (safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, receiver Davante Adams, tight end Richard Rodgers and center Corey Linsley).

The Packers also released inside linebacker Joe Thomas on Saturday. Bradford and Thomas are practice-squad eligible, but there might not be room for both.

The Packers also waived sixth-round pick Christian Ringo. The 6-foot-1, 298-pound defensive lineman received a $90,484 signing bonus after he was taken in the sixth round (210th overall). With Datone Jones and Letroy Guion suspended for the start of the 2015 season, it appears the Packers will enter the year with five defensive linemen (B.J. Raji, Mike Daniels, Josh Boyd, Mike Pennel and Bruce Gaston).
