Jared Abbrederis finally may get his chance to show what he can do with the Green Bay Packers.
The Packers signed the former Wisconsin wide receiver to their 53-man roster Saturday after downgrading wide receiver Davante Adams and safety Morgan Burnett to doubtful for their game Sunday at the San Francisco 49ers
The Packers also released defensive tackle Bruce Gaston on Saturday.
Adams (sprained ankle) and Burnett (calf strain) had been listed Friday as questionable but had not participated in practice all week.
Abbrederis (6-foot-1, 195 pounds), a Wautoma native in his second NFL season, had been signed to the practice squad on Sept. 7. He missed all of last season because of a knee injury and most of training camp this year after suffering a concussion.
Adams sprained his ankle against the Seahawks. He tried to play against the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday but left after the opening series when he aggravated the injury. Coach Mike McCarthy said Friday there was only a "slight" chance that Adams would play.
Asked later Friday about the ankle, Adams told Press-Gazette Media that "It's just hurting. We're just trying to fight through whatever we can so we can get it right."
Burnett has been battling the calf problem all season. He sat out the opener at Chicago, played against Seattle and then sat again against Kansas City.
