Packers coach Mike McCarthy spoke to the media on Monday evening. Here are some highlights:

On injuries:

We’re still working through it. We’ll have an injury report Wednesday.

On 4-0:

It’s a fast start. We hit the mark. I think everyone when we started season, it was an emphasis in our offseason studies. I give credit to our players and our coaching staff. Short week, weather, travel on Friday, our injury situation not really knowing how it’s going to sort out by the end of the week. Felt very good about what we accomplished, but our focus is on what’s ahead of us.

On confidence with defense:

We believe in stacking success. Sunday’s game against the 49ers is clearly our best defensive performance of the year. Four wins and getting better each and every week.

On stopping run and getting pressure:

Down-and-distance. The ability to stop the run and it sets up things. Just like the ability to run the ball sets up things in the passing game. Definitely helps. Puts us in situations where we have a number of guys who can rush the passer.

On Nick Perry:

Nick is playing really good football. I like the rotation we have going with our front group. He’s done a nice job taking advantage of those opportunities.

On James Jones’ performance:

When I look at James Jones’ production, I feel like James has picked up where he left off. He was here in 2013 and had a huge year. I look at James as jumping back into the groove with Aaron. The way our receivers are put together today. James is getting a lot of opportunities and he’s cashing in on those.

On getting off to a fast start without Jordy Nelson:

There’s no replacing Jordy Nelson. It’s about taking advantage of opportunities that present themselves with Jordy not being here. It speaks to the development of Ty Montgomery. Jordy was a young player here. It’s how we build our offense. It’s the No. 1 principle we designed with.

On first play to Montgomery, who dropped it:

It’s the first play of the game. There’s some game plan that go into those type of decisions. That was by design to take that shot. The fake and action was excellent. I think we’re ranked second in the league in plus-25-yard plays. We know how to create big plays. That was definitely a shot play.

On Joe Philbin:

Personally, I’m extremely disappointed. I think as we all know in here, Joe is a man of the highest character and integrity. I think he’s an outstanding football coach.

On Clay Matthews’ growth inside:

Clay has always been a playmaker. I think the more we move him around. I think you go from playing the pass rush position to an unfamiliar position helped our defense has helped a ton. I think you’re really seeing the continuation of that the first four games. Football is a matchup game. He gives us a great player in the front seven to match up with.

On Bryan Bulaga being able to do any football activities this week:

I hope so. I know Bryan feels like he’s getting stronger. Really that decision will be made Wednesday morning.
