Bryan Bulaga admitted he felt “rusty” Sunday, but his left knee held up in his return to the field after missing three games with injury.

The Green Bay Packers’ right tackle played for the first time against the St. Louis Rams since exiting a Sept. 17 practice with a sprained MCL and torn meniscus in his left knee. Three weeks after surgery, he was facing one of the NFL’s best defensive lines.

“I felt fine,” Bulaga said. “It went well. Didn’t notice anything. I had some bad plays, I’m willing to admit that, but from a health standpoint I felt fine.”

The Packers’ offense struggled Sunday, and its offensive line was part of that. Still, it was a significant upgrade from last week at San Francisco, when the Packers allowed three sacks and five quarterback hits.

Streak's end shows Aaron Rodgers is 'human'

On Sunday, the Packers allowed two sacks and three quarterback hits against a defense that was tied for second in the NFL with 17 sacks through the first four games. That was with right guard T.J. Lang being knocked out of the game midway through because of a knee injury. Lang was replaced by two-man platoon of Josh Walker and Don Barclay at right guard.

"Obviously, TJ’s a big part of our line," Bulaga said. "He’s a veteran. He’s smart. I rely on him a bunch myself, but when something like that happens, it’s next guy and we’ve got to pick it up. Walk and Don, I thought they did a good job."

Even if Bulaga wasn’t perfect, McCarthy said he was pleased with his right tackle. Perhaps most important was how Bulaga’s knee felt after his first game in a month. Yes, he’s confident Bulaga will be able to play when the Packers host the Chargers next week.

“I thought he looked good in the locker room,” McCarthy said. “That’s all I’m really concerned about. He was happy, jumping around. There’s nothing like getting a big, old, sweaty hug by a 320-pound offensive tackle. So he looks good.” and follow him on Twitter @ByRyanWood
